Traditional Baker’s Choice Wheat Flour FINE 500 is a popular high quality flour and is great for making more delicate sweet and savoury pastries, light cakes and shortbread. This flour does not contain any additives.



When archaeologists carried out excavations in the region of the lake dwellers of Switzerland they found grains of wheat, millet, and rye that were 10,000 years old. However, it was many years later when the Romans perfected the rotary mill for turning the wheat grain into flour. By the time of Christ, Rome had more than 300 bakeries, and it was the Roman legions who then introduced wheat throughout the Roman empire.

Wheat is now one of the most commonly consumed cereal grains in the world today. Jack Berry™ whole-grain wheat flour is made from grinding the entire wheat kernel, without separating bran and germ, therefore all the nutritional benefits of the whole grain are contained within the flour.

Wholegrain wheat flour is a rich source of various antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and a great source of natural fibre. The flour can be used to make a great variety of sweet and savoury bakes such as bread, muffins, flatbread, pasta, cookies, rolls and pastries.

    I visited the Jack Berry market stall in Lancaster last Saturday. I have just baked bread using the Bakers Choice 500 flour, and I cannot fault it. The initial rise was massive, and the second very fast too, the resultant bread is very tasty. I will be using it again.
